Mudcloth Shrug (XS-M)

Natural indigo-dyed, vintage, handwoven Mali cotton mudcloth was imported and carefully repaired by Meli before creating this shrug. The traditional weaving of this fabric was performed on a small hand loom with each piece of fabric only 2-3” wide and later stitched together. We love to showcase the earthy beauty of this West African cultural gem by keeping the cut and fit of this top minimal while the fabric takes center stage. This is the exact item you will receive.

Techniques employed: hand spinning cotton into thread , hand weaving, hand dyeing, hand sewing, hand drawing (for block prints), hand carving wood blocks, hand printing, ironing, embroidery, appliqué, beading, machine sewing.
